The deacons of Travelers Rest Baptist Church are biblically qualified men who have been ordained to minister to the physical needs of the church. Deacon means, literally, “One who waits on tables.”
The Apostles appointed the first deacons so that the Apostles could better attend to prayer and the ministry of the Word (Acts 6). The Bible gives explicit qualifications for deacons (1 Timothy 3:8-13).
